(A Knowledge of the Prophet's Biography )

Preface
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent , the Merciful
All praise is due to Allah the Lord of the
worlds , and peace and blessing on the master of the messengers , and the
intercessor of believers , who has been sent as a mercy for the worlds ,
Muhammad Bin Abdullah (p.b) and his pure, good natured, infallible family. And
the lasting curse on the whole of their enemies till the Day of judgment.
When writers write about a personage , they in
fact aim to highlight one phase of that personage’s phases such as ; the
scientific , ethical , historical phase and so on . It depends on the desired
object of that personage.
In this book which is called “ Ma’refet Sirat
Nabiyyul Islam ” the fifth part of the series “Me’ariful Muslim” , we are going
to talk about the greatest personage , the best and the purest creature , he is
the seal of the apostles whom the Qur'an has described in His saying : “ Nor
does he speak out desire . It is naught but Revelation that is revealed ”
And His saying: “And We have not sent you but as
a mercy to the worlds ”
And He ordered us to take him as example , when He said : “ Certainly you have
in the Apostle of Allah an excellent exemplar ”
The desired goal of this book is to know the biography of the Apostle of Islam
(p.b.h) in order to take the lessons and the examples , follow the directions
and the orders that the apostle came with, learn the meaning of sacrificing on
the way of Islam , not to weaken before the seducers, and to be a symbol and
ideal in the present hard life .
In this book , we covered the biography of the Apostle (p.b.h) , we divided the
book into three parts that contains explanation for the Prophet’s birth ,
business , the good news of the prophecy , his marriage, revealing the mission
, the secret and the open call , the Prophet’s migration (the hegira), his
battles , Mecca’s conquest , the farewell hajj , the Prophet’s successor , and
the Prophet’s death(p.b.h) .
We wish that we could explain for Muslims a part of their Prophet’s biography
(p.b.h) to be a light stand that guide us.
Finally , I ask Allah by our Prophet and my grandpa , Muhammad Bin Abdullah
(p.b.h) , to accept this little work and to forgive the much of our sins , since
I am the guilty poor servant.
I beg the dear reader to remember me in his prayers especially in the occasion
when prayer is accepted.
Praise be to God , the Lord of worlds , and peace be upon A’l Yasin .

Introduction
The Arabian Peninsula Before Islam
If we want to understand Islam and the greatness of its guidance the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (p.b.h) , who saved the humanity by his kindness and put it on
the way of civilization and straightness behavior , starting from Arabs who were
close to him. We should know first the Arab situation before Islam , in order to
know the conditions in which the Islamic mission has started. The best one who
described these conditions was the scholar Tabataba’e (mercy upon him ) , he
said : “ Qur'an calls Arabs before Islam (pre-Islam or State of ignorance ) to
show that the ignorance was the ruler of that community not the science , and
the injustice was controlling them not the right ” . Qur'an also describes them
in the same way: “ they entertained about Allah thoughts of ignorance quite
unjustly, saying : We have no hand in the affair ”
And said : “ Is it then the judgment of (the times of ) ignorance that they
desire? And who is better than Allah to judge for a people who are sure ? ”
And said : “ When those who disbelieved harbourd in their hears (feeling of )
disdain , the disdain of (of the days of ) ignorance , but Allah sent down his
tranquility on His Apostle and on the believers and made them keep the Word of
guarding , and they were entitled to it and worthy of it ; and Allah is
Cognizant of all things ”
And said : “ And stay in your houses and do not display your finery like the
displaying of the ignorance of yore ; And keep up prayer , and pay the poor-rate
, and obey Allah and His Apostle ”
The previous verses are the best mirror that reflexes the situation and the
conditions of Arabs. There was not any civilization in the Arabian community
especially Hijaz region , or maybe there were civilization but they had been
vanished before Islam rising.
Here we mention some of the traditions and habits that prevailed in that time:
1.
Polytheism , they were worshiping idols , images , and
stars.
2.
Denying the Hereafter , which means returning to the life
in the after word .
3.
Fables hegemony, fables were controlling the minds of
people in that time which became the main reason for their retardation and an
impregnable barrier in the way of Islamic mission later, the matter which made
the Prophet (p.b.h) works with great effort to remove the effects of the state
of ignorance and to erase the fabulous thoughts and beliefs.
4.
Immorality, like spreading adultery , gambling , wine ,
sodomy and prostitutions.
5.
Burying alive (a newborn girl ) , it is so bad custom
which Qur'an considered as Abouminable crime that never pass in the Day of
Judgment without punishment.
Allah the Almighty said : “ When a daughter was announced to one of them his
face becomes black and he is full of wrath. He hides himself from people because
of the evil of that which is announced to him . Shall he keep it with disgrace
or bury it (alive) in the dust ? Now surly evil is what they judge ”
And said : “ And when the one buried alive is asked . For what sin she was
killed”
So that , the woman was forbidden from all the social rights even the right of
inheritance. The man had the right to merry the wife of his father after his
death or when he divorces her , and sometimes the sons take turn on the wife of
their father. And they were inheriting women as they were inheriting the
stuffs, over and Abouve , they were bequeathing males and excluding females.
6.
They were eating blood , dead animals , and pigs . And
they were killing animals with severity.
7.
Usury, it was the backbone of their economy.
8.
Looting , it was one of the intense customs , they ride
and kill each other , and they were proud of doing such things.
9.
As for the cultural and scientific side , people of Hijaz
were described “ ignorant ” . Pre- Islam , those who know reading and writing
didn’t exceed seventeen persons in Mecca .
I conclude by the description of Ja’far bin Abi Talib describing the situation
of pre-Islam saying in his speech before the king of Habasha , Al Najashi : “O
king , we were such ignorant people , we were worshiping idols , eating dead
animals , committing sins , cutting the kinship , mistreating the neighbors ,
the strong eats the weak ”
This is the fact of Arabs before Islam.

Theme One
Who is Muhammad (p.b.h)?
Arabs’ Ignorance , illiteracy, and savagery were controlling the Arabs peninsula
and profaning Mecca and the Kaaba. On the other hand the Magianism of the
Persians and their power were messing around with the East , fire was
worshiped instead of Allah . The rabbis of Jews and the friars of Christian have
distorted the Torah and the Bible. The Greeks in the west were making people
suffer from the worst pain . The whole world was roaring , earth was full of
crimes , the human’s behavior was controlled by the law of the jungle. In the
year of “Feel” (the elephant ) when “Habashain ” had come to invade Mecca , and
to destroy Kaaba , an amazing thing happened. The idols of Kaaba fell down on
their faces, and light lightened a large part of the Arab’s Peninsula , the Hall
of Kisra (the Persian king ) broken down , and about fourteen of it balconies
fell down. And the Persian Fire that was worshiped instead of Allah has been
extinguished. And the lake of Sawa has dried. All of these things happened in
(571 A.C) , when the light of birth the savior of the humanity has lightened ,
he was the seal of the messengers and the prophets. He is my grandpa Muhammad
the bin Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abdu Monaf (p.b.h) who is
descending from the progeny of Ismaeal (p.b.h) bin Ibrahim (p.b.h) . That was on
17th Rabea’ul awal, fifteen nights before the “Feel” invasion .
His mother has given him birth in Mecca , in his father’s house, Abdullah bin
Abdul Muttalib (p.b.h) , in Shu’b Abitalib. He was born two months before his
father’s death.
It is reported that , when the lady Aminah bent Wahab (p.b.h) got pregnant by
the prophet (p.b.h) she said : “I heard someone told me that ; You’ve got
pregnant by the master of this nation , and the best of mankind , so when you
give him birth say: I guard you by the One God from the evil of the envious
people , and name him Muhammad , since his name in Torah was Hamed , and in the
New Testament was Ahmed, the inhibitors of earth and skies praise him , and his
name in Qur'an Muhammad ”
So his grandpa Abdul Muttalib named him Muhammad (p.b.h) , he got him into the
Kaaba and thanked God for His gift. After seven days he made a huge banquet , he
slaughtered sheep and camels and let Meccan and the visitors eat for three days.
With his birth(p.b.h) the great hopes were born , the real life of man was born
, and new pages and chapters in the human history were opened .s
As for his feeding , his mother fed him for three days , then two women nursed
him, they are :
1.Thowaiba : She is the bondmaid of Abou Lahab , who nursed him for only four
months.
2.Halimatul Sa’diyah: She is the daughter of Abi Tho’aib , she has got three
kids ; “Abdullah , Anisa ,and Shayma , ” Shayma has also nursed the Prophet
(p.b.h).
It was rainless ness and barrenness year when Halimatul Sa’diayah started to
nurse the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.h) , and he was only four months , but suddenly
she’s got flourished and ease life. One day , al Harith the husband of Halimah
said ; “O daughter of Tho’aib , do you know that you’ve got a blessing person? ”
The prophet(p.b.h) has stayed with “ Bani Sa’ad Tribe ” for five yours . His
mother visited him through this period three years. Halimah has nursed him as
well as she could. When he (p.b.h) was six years old , his mother took him to
Yathrib to visit his uncles “Beni al Najar” and to visit the grave of her
husband , Abdullah (p.b.h) . But in her way back to Mecca , she got sick , she
died as soon as she got “al Abwa’”. After his mother’s death , everybody loved
Muhammad and took care of him , especially his grandpa “Abdul Muttalib (p.b.h)”
who loved him more than he loved his sons.
So , the Prophet (p.b.h) became orphan , and he was only seven years old. Qur'an
has pointed to this period : “Did he not find you an orphan and give you shelter
?”
Maybe these things happened to him to prepare him for more difficult future.
When he was eight years old he lost his great grandpa “Abdul Muttalib (p.b.h)”
so he cried so much , and his tears still running down till he was buried in his
grave .
Abdul Muttalib (p.b.h) has assigned Abou Talib to take care of Muhammad (p.b.h)
, who took care of as well as he could. Abou Talib was the noblest among his
brothers , even though he was the poorest. He was the most respectable person in
Quraysh.
Abou Talib was the brother of Abdullah (p.b.h) from his mother and his father ,
the matter which increases love and sympathy with Muhammad (p.b.h).
Abou Talib has accepted this task with proud , and his wife , the kindhearted
“Fatima bent Asad ” was helping him . They were preferring him by spending and
clothing on themselves and their sons. That is why ,when Fatima bent Asad died ,
the Prophet (p.b.h) said: “ Just today I lost my mother ” Then he
(p.b.h)enshrouded her with his shirt , and lied down in her grave.
Theme Two
His Business
The personality of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.h) started to be well know in Mecca
because of his faithfulness , truthfulness, and his high determination. Hearts
were attracted toward him , and he was the descendant of a pure family , but the
poverty that exhausted Abou Talib drove him to suggest on Muhammad (p.b.h) to
work with the lady Khadija bent Khuwailid (p.b.h) , who were running a wide
business. She got a lot of money and a great honor. She used men to run her wide
business. So Abou Talib said to the Prophet (p.b.h): “ O my nephew , this is
Khadija bent Khuwaild , whom most people got benefit of her money , and she is
looking for a faithful man , if you offer yourself to work with her she will
hurry to you , and she will prefer you on others because of your excellent
reputation and your honesty ”
But the honor and the pride of the Prophet (p.b.h) prevented him from asking her
by himself. So he (p.b.h) said : “ She maybe asks me to work with her ” And
that what exactly happened. She sent him (p.b.h) a message : “ I have heard
about your truthfulness , great faithfulness , and your high morals , that is
why I am writing to you . I offer you as twice as I give another one of your own
people , and I will put two young people at your command in your journeys ”
They both agreed that the prophet (p.b.h) is going to work with her not as an
employee but as speculation , he works and she provides him with money. Since
the prophet (p.b.h) shouldn’t be an employee for anybody.
In his first journey to Sham , the Prophet gain a lot of money. And when the
arrived Mecca , Maysera (the servant of the lady Khadija )said : “O Muhammad ,
we gained in this journey, by your blessing , more than what we gained within
forty years”. He carried that good news for Khadija , and told her about
everything happened in their journey, especially the conversation that happened
between the Prophet (p.b.h) and a merchant who wanted the prophet to swear by
“Lat ” and “Azza” but the Prophet refused and said: “I never swear by them” and
left him .
Then the Prophet (p.b.h) has delivered everything he gained from his journey to
his uncle Abou Talib (p.b.h) to spend it on his sons , the matter which made him
so pleased and proud of his nephew.
Theme Three
His Marriage
The lady of Quraish “Khadijah bent Khuwailid” was smart noble resolute woman.
She was the richest in Mecca . Many of Quraysh’s leaders have engaged her
because of her honor, wealth , and beauty. But Khadija (p.b.h) refused them all
, because she believes they were greedy in her money and they were not matching
her. But she chose the Prophet (p.b.h) when knew his high morals and honor. She
was twenty years old , she was virgin , she never marry before the Prophet or
after him.
She showed he desire to marry the Prophet (p.b.h) , and he was twenty five years
old. So , Abou Talib and a group of Quraysh’s people went to ask for her hand
from her uncle Amro bin Asad because her father was already dead.
When Abou Talib asked for her hand , he said : “ Praise be to the Lord of this
House , Who made us from the progeny of Ibrahim (p.b.h) and Isma'eal (p.b.h) …,
This is my nephew ( he means the Prophet (p.b.h) ) who is better than anybody in
Quraish , he is greater than any body to compare with. He has a desire to marry
Khadija , We are here to ask for her hand , we hope she agrees , and I am ready
to pay the dower that you want. I swear by the Lord of the House that he has a
great luck , wide religion , and perfect mind.”
Then when Muhammad (p.b.h) wanted to go with his uncle, Abou Talib (p.b.h),
Khadija said : “ Come to your house , my house is yours , and I am your servant
.”
Thus , Muhammad (p.b.h) and Khadija (p.b.h) got married and established their
own family, and built the house from which the light of Islam and guidance will
shine . Khadija (p.b.h) had great role to keep and spread Islam, and to support
the Prophet (p.b.h). Therefore the Prophet (p.b.h) has mentioned her in too many
narrations , he praised her and mentioned her dignity and honor. She was the
first one who believed. The Prophet (p.b.h) said : “ Khadija believed when
others disbelieved in Allah , she trusted me when the others accused me of lying
, she consoled me with her money when the others deprived me , and Allah has
given me kids from her .”
Theme Four
The Good News of the Prophecy
If we go back to the history we will find that there were some signs that give
good news about the coming of the prophet Moses (p.b.h) , therefore Fir’on knew
that a new baby is going to be born who is going to destroy Fir’on’s kingdom ,
so he started to kill all male newborn in that year. There were also good news
before Isa’s (p.b.h) coming. As for the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.h) , many of the
pontiffs and priests have talked about him before his birth.
The pontiffs and priests have found the news and the marks of the Prophet and
the time in which he appears in their books , they also found the covenant of
their prophets to the Prophet of Islam (p.b.h) , and that what Qur'an has
confirmed in this verse : “ When Isa son of Marium said : O children of Israeal
! Surly I am the apostle of Allah to you , verifying that which is before me of
the Taurat and giving the Good News of an Apostle who will com after me , his
name being Ahmed ; but when he came to them with clear arguments they said ;
This is clear magic . ”
In spite of the distortion that happened in the recent Bibles but some of them
still have the good news of the Prophet (p.b.h) coming .
Reported in Injeel Hana (the bible of Hana) : “If you love me , keep to my
commandments , and I will ask the Father to give you Barkeat (the consoler ) to
stay with you forever.”
“I have no much words to say because the leader of this world is coming”
“ As for the consoler – the Holy Sprit – who the Father will send on behalf me ,
he is going to teach everything , and remind you about everything I said to
you ”
“ The truth is , if I go it is better for you , otherwise the consoler wont come
, but He will send him to you when I leave ”
When you look attentively at these texts you will find that :
1.
Christ (p.b.h) is telling good news about the consoler
who will come after him.
2.
The coming of that consoler is conditioned by leaving the
Christ (p.b.h).
3.
The consoler will be sent by Allah.
4.
The consoler knows everything.
5.
The consoler is going to remind people about what the
Christ (p.b.h) has said.
6.
The consoler is going to testify for the benefit of the
Christ (p.b.h).
When we look at the life history of the Prophet (p.b.h) we will find that all
the previous marks are completely applied on him. He is bearing the Qur'an which
has an explanation for everything, and tells about things that will happen in
the future , and testifies for the benefit of the Christ (p.b.h) that he was a
prophet and a messenger, and glorifies him.
You will be more certain when you know that the real meaning of the Greece word
“Bearktuse ” is “Ahmed” but it has been distorted in Injeel Youhana (the bible
of Youhana) to “Barklituse ” which means “the consoler”
There were too many signs that showed there will be an Arabian Prophet , we
mention the story of Salman al Muhammadi when he moved to the Christianity . He
came to the greatest friar who told him and he was dying : “ I know nobody who
has more knowledge that what we have , but it is the time for coming a new
prophet . He will come by the religion of Ibrahim(p.b.h) , He will be in the
Arabs’ land , he will migrate to a place that lies between two volcanic and
stony areas with palm trees and so clear signs , He is allowed to eat from the
gift but he doesn’t eat the charity , he has the seal of the prophecy between
his shoulders , So get there if you could . ”
So Salman arrived to al Medina , and after awhile the Prophet (p.b.h) arrived
when migrated from Mecca . Salman has found the three signs that the friar had
told him Abouut.
There is another story , it is the story of the friar “Bohaira” . Once when the
Prophet (p.b.h) was nine years old he accompanied his uncle Abou Talib (p.b.h)
to al Sham for business, during this his journey there was a cloud that shads
the Prophet (p.b.h) everywhere he goes. When the caravan arrived Busra in al
Sham , they decided to have some a rest. It was near a hermitage belongs to the
friar Buhaira . When Buhaira saw the cloud shads the prophet (p.b.h) , he made
some food and invited them all. And they were passing him before but he didn’t
talk to them. When the came , he said : “Is there anybody left?” They said :
“Nobody left but a young man , he stayed to watch our things .” He said : “Call
him for my food .”. The Prophet (p.b.h) came ,and the cloud was shading him.
Buhaira began to watch carefully, and examined his body , he was looking for
some signs that he knew. When the banquet was over , the friar sat with the
Prophet (p.b.h) and his uncle. The friar said: “ I ask you by “Lat ” and “ Azza”
to answer my questions” The Prophet (p.b.h) said : “Don’t swear by “Lat ” and
“Azza ” because I hate nothing more than them.” Then said : “ Ask me anything
you want .” So the friar started to ask the Prophet about everything related to
his life and his personality. And the Prophet (p.b.h) answers him. Then he
looked between the eyes of the Prophet (p.b.h) , then he uncovered the Prophet’s
shoulders and saw the seal of the prophecy between them , it was exactly as he
knew . So the friar kissed the seal , and asked Abou Talib: “What is the
relationship between you and the young ? ”
“He is my son .” Abou Talib said
“He isn’t . And he mustn’t be your son .” The friar said.
“He is my nephew ” Abou Talib said.
“ Where is his father ? ” The friar said.
“His father died while he was fetus ” Abou Talib said.
“ What about his mother ? ” The friar said.
“ She died soon ” Abou Talib said.
“That’s right , take your nephew back to your own country and take care of him.
I swear by Allah if they know what I have know they will hurt him. Your nephew
is an important person we found that in our books , and that was my advise to
you ” The friar said
So the Jews and Christians knew that Allah will send a new prophet , and he will
be Arabian from Mecca, and Qur'an has referred to the marks of the Prophet
(p.b.h) protesting against Jews and Christians saying : “ Those who follow the
Apostle – Prophet , the “Ummi” , whom they find written down with them in the
Taurat and the Injeel , who enjoins them good and forbids them evil , and makes
lawful to them the good things and makes unlawful to them impure things , and
removes from them their burden and the shackles which were upon them ; so (as
for ) those who believe in him and honor him and help him , and follow the light
which has been sent down with him , these it is that are the successful ”

Theme One
Revealing the Message :
Inspiration : It means the hidden speech , commands , audiences that is
revealed to someone , whether by signals , writing , symbols , or conversation.
The conventional meaning of inspiration is the speech of Allah the Almighty that
is revealed to the Apostles and messengers.
The Devin inspiration is the way that Allah used to have people know themselves
, their Lord , and to teach them how to organize their lives , how to deal with
each other , and how to worship their Creator.
Thus God’s mercy wished to choose certain people who were qualified and helped
them to receive the God’s favor. He provides them with spiritual readiness ,
psychological integration , mental maturity , and the nobility of character to
be ready for bearing the mission and to represent the God’s will on earth.
“Allah chooses messengers from among the angels and from among the men ; Surly
Allah is Hearing , Seeing .”
The Types of Inspiration :
Apostles and messengers get the inspiration in different ways . Allah the
almighty says: “ And it is not for any mortal that Allah should speak to him
except by Revelation or from behind a veil , or by sending a messenger and
revealing by His permission what He pleases; Surly He is High , Wise. ”
1.
Direct revelation , it is the Devin speech that the
prophet hears without the mediation of an angle.
2.
Revelation by the mediation of the angle Gabriel . Allah
the Almighty says : “ The faithful Sprit has descended with it . Upon your heart
that you may be of the warners ”
3.
Inspiration through the dream for example the dream of
Yousif and Abraham (p.b.h).
The inspiration of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.h) :
Allah the Almighty has prepared the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.h) to bear the message
,and to carry out the great mission to save the mankind. When the Prophet
(p.b.h) was forty years old , Allah the Almighty chose him to be an Apostle and
a messenger to guide the whole people . Before the revelation , the Prophet has
been seen true visions in his dreams.
Reported from Muhammad the son of Ka’ab that : “ At the beginning the Holy
Prophet (p.b.h) started to see a vision it was look like the light of the dawn
, then he liked to be alone , so he isolated himself in Hara Cave ”
When we examine the previous report , we can deduce some basic facts that are
related to the prophecy and the revelation:
1.
The Prophet (p.b.h) was being prepared by Allah the
Almighty to receive the revelation through out the inspiration and seeing the
true visions .
Allah the Almighty said : “ Certainly Allah has shown to His Apostle the vision
with Truth; you shall must certainly enter the Sacred Mosque , if Allah please ,
in security , (some) having their heads shaved and other having their hair cut ,
you shall not fear , but He knows what you do not know , so He broughtabouta
near victory before that . ”
2.
Allah the Almighty made the Prophet (p.b.h) loves the
isolation to be able to meditate on the invisible world and the Kingdom , and to
be ready to receive the Devin favor and inspiration.
The Descending of Revelation:
(610 A.D) is the year that Allah the Almighty has chosen to send His Prophet
(p.b.h) to whole people , in Remadan month , the Prophet has taken his family
and went as usual to Ghar Hara . Soon the Angle Gabriel (p.b.h) descended and
told the Prophet that he is the Apostle and the messenger to the humanity.
Traditions say that the first verses that was read by Gabriel (p.b.h) to the
Apostle of Allah (p.b.h) were : “Read in the Name of your Lord who created . He
created man from a clot .Read and your Lord is Most Honorable . Who taught (to
write ) with the pen . Taught man what he knew not. ”
After receiving the revelation , the Prophet (p.b.h) went back to his family
with the task that he was waiting for its honor . Then the predictions and the
good news that were told by Buhaira and other friars have become me real. And
now he knew that a serious responsibility was put on his shoulders , and he has
to bear it.
Reported from Imam Ali al Hadi (P.b.h) :
“ After quitting his business and beneficiating all the money which he gained
from that business , the Prophet (P.b.h) used to go to Hara Cave in order to
thinkaboutthe signs of Allah’s Mercy and His miracles . He (P.b.h) was looking
at the sky , earth , and deserts and took a warning from them , then he (P.b.h)
worshiped Allah in a way that He deserves . When the Prophet (P.b.h) was forty
years old when Allah the Almighty has looked into his heart and found it was the
purest , the softest , and the most obedient heart. Allah the Almighty commanded
the doors of the sky to be opened , so they opened while Muhammad (P.b.h) was
looking . Then Allah the Almighty allowed the angles to come down , so they
descended while Muhammad (P.b.h) was looking . Then He ordered the mercy to come
down from “ Arsh ” (the throne) to the head of the Prophet (P.b.h). Then He
looked at Gabriel ( the Holy Sprit ) , so he came down and took Muhammad’s hand
and shook it then said : O Muhammad read.
“I cant read ” said the Prophet (P.b.h).
Then the angel said : “Read in the name of your Lord Who created . He created
man from a clot . Read and your Lord is most Honorable . Who taught (to write)
with the pen . Taught man what knew not .”
Then he inspired the Prophet (P.b.h) what Allah has inspired him , then he
ascended back to sky.
Muhammad (P.b.h) got back home and he was so exhausted because of what he has
seen of the Allah’s greatness . He was thinking , how Quraish are going to
accuse him of laying and craziness. Or may be he was attacked by Shaitan (the
devil ) . And because he was the most reasonable and the most honorable of the
creation , and because Shaitan and crazies actions were the most heated things
for him . Allah the Almighty wanted to please him , and to encourage his heart
, so He made the mountains , rocks , and soil speak. So where ever the Prophet
(P.b.h) goes , he hears them say : O Muhammad peace be upon you , O guardian of
Allah peace be upon you , O prophet of Allah peace be upon you . Have the Good
News , that Allah has purified , decorated , and dignified you over the whole
nations . Don’t be sad when Quraish says that you are crazy or you are charmed
, since the best is the one who is preferred by Allah , and the noblest is the
one who is honored by Allah. So don’t be fed up with accusation of Quraish and
the Arab’s arrogant. Allah will raise you to the highest degrees, and He will
have you possess the greatest miracles. He will please your followers by your
testament to Ali Bin Abi Talib (P.b.h) , who is going to spread your knowledge
all over the world , since he is the key of the gate of the city of your wisdom.
Ali bin Abi Talib is going to please you when he marries your daughter Fatima
(P.b.h) . They both will have Hassan and Hussein the masters of the Paradise’s
young people . Ali is going to spread your religion all over the world. Ali is
going to magnify the rewards of your lovers . You will have the Praise Flag ,
and you will give it to Ali , then every prophet , veracious, and martyr will be
under that flag , then Ali will lead them to the Paradise.
Them Two
The Secret Call
The Prophet (P.b.h) has called to bear the mission , and to spread the Word of
Allah , and he has called for monotheism , and he called for reforming the
humanity - because he came with a universal mission - and saving them from
injustice , idolism , corruption , and superstition.
Allah the Almighty said : “ O you who are clothed , Arise and warn , And your
Lord do magnify. And your garment do purify . And uncleanness do shun. And
bestow not favor that you may receive again with increase . And for the sake of
your Lord , be patient. ”
Beside that , the Prophet was realizing the nature of his community and the
tyranny that was controlling them. And he (P.b.h) also knew that this huge
historical quake is going to shake the tyrants and arouse their proud and
hostility.
Therefore he couldn’t call people for Islam openly. It was so difficult to call
for overthrowing the idolism , superstition , and save the oppressed people from
the hegemony of the tyrants. Because he (P.b.h) is going to be faced by all
kinds of resistance , refusing , and hostility. And he (P.b.h) already knows how
the previous prophets have been faced by refusing and obstinacy, and how the
tyrants have mobilized all their powers to fight the prophets’ missions and the
reforming movements . They killed the prophets , tortured them, expelled them
out of their homelands , mocked at them , and used the propaganda against them.
So that , the holy Prophet (P.b.h) used the secret call to keep the mission
away from the eyes of tyrants, till they get stronger and to be integrated
numerically , ideologically , and psychologically.
Thus ,the Prophet (P.b.h) started his secret call . He called first his cousin
Ali Bin Abi Talib (P.b.h) and his wife Khadija bent Khuwailed (P.b.h) whom
believed and trusted him . So they were the first seed of the Great Devine
Mission on earth , and the starting point for its historical movement.
Ali (P.b.h) was the loyal for the prophecy and for the mission . And Khadija was
the best helper, she spent all her fortune to help Islam and to fix its pillars
. Then Zaid bin Haritha declared his Islam to be the third one who believed the
Prophet (P.b.h).
Historians say , the Prophet (P.b.h) was choosing his followers carefully , and
he didn’t call all people in that time , because he (P.b.h) wanted to build a
strong bloc that is able to bear the flag of the mission and faces the tyrants
secretly.
They were hiding their Islam , and they did their prayers secretly. This period
lasted three years. The holy prophet chose a secret place for holding meeting
, reciting Qur'an , and teaching Muslims , it was the house of al Arqam al
Makhzumi.
Thus , the holy Prophet (P.b.h) kept calling people in Mecca secretly, and
called only those who were qualified to join Islam , till they were forty person
. So the secret call in Mecca lasted three years.
Theme Three
The Overt Call
When the first three years were over , a new difficult , serious period has
started , it is the overt call period. At the beginning it started relatively
with a narrow extent , When the Prophet started with his own relatives after
descending the following verse : “ And warn your nearest relations ”
There were two reasons for that :
1.
In order not to be said that : Why doesn’t the Prophet
(P.b.h) call his family and his clan for his new religion , but he calls those
who are far? Why does he deprive his family and his relatives of the welfare and
the happiness of his call?
2.
He (P.b.h) was in need for farther protection that helps
him to go on spreading his mission and guards him from the harm of the ignorant
people.
Therefore ,and just after revealing this verse , the Prophet (P.b.h) has
commanded Imam Ali (P.b.h) to prepare some food and invites his clan to talk to
them, and tells them what he was ordered to do. Then , Imam Ali (P.b.h) made a
measure of food , and placed a sheep’s leg on it , and filled a huge cup with
yogurt , then he invited them. They were forty men in that time , or maybe one
less or more . Among them were his uncles Abou Talib, Hamzah , al Abbas , and
Abu-Lehab. Imam Ali (P.b.h) said : “ The men ate till they were satisfied but
everybody didn’t eat more than a little mount before him. I swear by Allah , Who
controls my soul ,that everyone of them used to eat as much as the mount of food
which I prepared for them all . Then the Prophet said : give them a drink. So ,
I brought them the cup of yogurt , They drank till they all were satisfied . I
swear by Allah , that everyone of them used to drink as much as this cup alone.
And when the Prophet (P.b.h) wanted to talk to them , Abu-Lehab interrupted him
and said : Muhammad has witched you ! So they left the place before the Prophet
(P.b.h) could talk to them. ” On the next day , the Prophet commanded
me to redo the same thing . And after they ate and drank , the Prophet has said
: “ O sons of Abdul Muttalib , I am the Warner from Allah the Almighty to you ,
I brought you something that nobody from Arabs brings , If you obey me , you
will win and succeed . And Allah has commanded me to do this banquet for you ,
so I made it as well as Isa (P.b.h) made a banquet for his people . From now
onward , he who denies , Allah will punish him painfully , nobody else should be
punished like him . So fear God , and listen to me . O son of Abdul Muttalib :
Allah never sent a messenger unless He assigned him a brother , a vizier , a
guardian , and an inheritor from his own family . And He assigned me a vizier ,
as well as , He assigned the prophets before me. Allah has sent me to whole
people , and revealed to me “ And warn your nearest relations ”
and you’re my nearest people , I swear by Allah that Allah has told meaboutthis
person , He named him for me . But in order not to blame me later, I want to
advise you , and put this matter before you . You are my kin and my dearest
people , so who is going to fraternize with me and helps me in this matter. Who
is going to be my brother , my guardian , and my successor . They all kept
silent but I said : “ O Prophet of Allah , I will be your vizier ” So he hugged
me and said : “ This is my brother , my guardian , and my successor , so you
have to listen to him and obey him ” . Imam Ali said : “They all laughed and
told Abou Talib ; He ordered you to listen to your son and obey him ! Then Abou
Talib said : “ I swear by Allah that , we are going to support him , O my nephew
, inform us when you want to call people to your religion in order to guard you
with our swords ””
After he (P.b.h) warned his close relatives , the news of the prophecy has
spread all over Mecca, and Quraish started to oppose the Prophet (P.b.h) , mock
at him , and call him bad names in order to degrade him (P.b.h) . Then Allah
the Almighty revealed to him (P.b.h) to declare his call , and to invite Quraish
to embrace Islam , and He promised him that He will protect him from mockers
saying : “Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the
polytheists . Surly We will suffice you against scoffers . ”
So the Prophet (P.b.h) obeyed has obeyed the command of Allah and called whole
people openly to embrace Islam.
It is said that : He stood near the black rock and said : “ O Quraish , O Arabs
, I call you to say ; There is no god but Allah , and I am the messenger of
Allah , I order you to get rid of idols , if you obey me you will rule over
Arabs and non-Arabs will obey you , and you will be kings in the Paradise ”
They scoff at him and said : “ Muhammad bin Abdullah got crazy” , but the
didn’t hurt him because of the rank of Abou Talib (P.b.h).
It is said also , He (P.b.h) has stood on “Safa” and called Quraish . When they
gathered around him , he (P.b.h) said : “Do you believe me If I told you that ,
there are horsemen attacking you from behind that mountain , ? They said “Yes we
do , you are not a liar , and you never lied ” He (P.b.h) said : “ I am warn
you to avoid a sever pain”. Soon , Abu-Lehab and his friend got up and said : “
Woe to you , is that why you gathered people? ” Then the left him alone . So
Allah the Almighty revealed His saying : “ Perdition overtake both hands of the
Abu-Lahab , and he will perish ”
”
Then Quraish started to show their anger and tried to find ways to stop this new
religion (the Islam) and to annihilate it. They went to Abi Talib (p.b.h) and
asked him to persuade the Prophet (p.b.h) to stop his call , using both
temptation and threatening.
Abou Talib realized the danger of Quraish’s decision , he also realized that
they will not hesitate to use the worst ways to crush his nephew and his new
religion. So he tried to calm Quraish while he could find a way to solve the
problem. But the Prophet insisted on going on with his call , obeying Allah’s
command in any events and at any rate.
The Prophet (p.b.h) said : “ O my uncle , if they put the sun in my right hand
and the moon in my left hand I wont leave this matter until Allah the Almighty
grant me success or I die ”. Abou Talib who already knew the faithfulness of
his nephew and he believes in him , said : “O my nephew ,go ahead and say what
you like to say , I never hand you over to anything ”
Then Quraish decided to insult and scoff the Prophet and his followers who were
increasing everyday. They also scoffed his call which started to get deeper into
the souls of people . Abou Lahab and his wife Om Jemil were putting the thistle
on the Prophet’s door , and Abou Jehl was annoying the Prophet with his dirty
speech. But when Hamza the uncle of the Prophet knewaboutthat , he replied the
insulation to Abou Jehal before the whole world, then he declared his Islam ,
and he challenged them if they could prevent him or hurt the Prophet (p.b.h)
again.
Then Quraish has accused him by witching and the like , after that they started
to use the severity , torture, beating, and starving against all of the
Prophet’s followers. After two years of the open call , the Prophet (p.b.h) has
realized that he was not able to guard his followers from the pains which they
were suffering because of the tyrannies of Quraish. So He (p.b.h) urged the
persecuted Muslims to migrate to Habasha to have some rest and to get back their
activity so they will be able to continue their movement. He (p.b.h) said “There
is a king in Habasha that nobody is oppressed before him ”
Muslims have responded to the Prophet (p.b.h) and went to Habasha under the
leadership of Ja’far bin Abi Talib (p.b.h). And there everything went in the
interest of Muslims.
In the seventh year of the mission, Quraish hast written an unjust covenant, it
was the whole boycott with Bani Hashim (the clan of the Prophet (p.b.h)), nobody
is allowed to buy , sell , marry or mix with them. That covenant was signed by
forty of Quraysh’s leaders.
Abou Talib(p.b.h) has left his home and went to the mountain pass where his
nephew (the Prophet (p.b.h)) , Bani Hashim ,and Bani Abdul Muttalib were
blocked. He said “We must all be killed before they could reach the Prophet
(p.b.h)”.
The boycott lasted three years, in which Muslims have suffered the worst pains
of hunger , isolation , and the psychological war. Then Allah the Almighty has
sent the woodworm which ate the whole paper that was hanged on the wall of
Ka’aba , nothing left but “In the name Allah ”. So Quraish shamed and left the
siege.
Theme Four
Migration From Mecca
The siege was over , and the Prophet (p.b.h) and his followers came out of this
siege victorious. But the God Will wanted Khadija to die , she was the faithful
wife , the unique dogmatic woman who spent all of her huge wealth to support
Islam , until she started to sleep on a skin of a sheep because of the poverty.
The Prophet (p.b.h) has faced a very hard sentimental and psychological
situation when he saw Khadija was dying and looking around before she goes to
the immortal paradise.
Khadija has died in Ramadan in the tenth year after the mission of the Prophet
(p.b.h) . She was during all those ten years faithful and honest. She was the
first woman who believed the Prophet (p.b.h) and trusted him. She has endured
the harm and persecution with him. She was the example of the Muslim woman and
the honest wife.
Grieves and pains have continued upon the Prophet (p.b.h) , his uncle Abou
Talib died just three days after Khadijah’s death. He was eighty six years old
(and it is said ninety years old ) . The Prophet (p.b.h) came to Abou Talib in
his last illness , he wiped his forehead four times then he said to him: “O my
uncle you’ve grown me up when I was child , sponsored me when I was orphan , and
defended me when I was grownup ” . And after the death of Abou Talib , the
Prophet (p.b.h) walked before his coffin and he was saying “ Allah blesses you ”
. The Prophet (p.b.h) felt the grief , the pain and the threaten of enemies
after the death of his uncle and his wife. It was great loss , so that he said :
“Two afflictions were gathered against this nation nowadays , I don’t know
because of which one I am more grieved ”.
When the Prophet (p.b.h) had lost guarding and supporting of Abou Talib , his
enemies rushed madly upon him , and their harm got stronger. They tried to kill
him many times. Quraish had harmed the Prophet (p.b.h) till he said “Quraish
couldn’t harm me till I lost Abou Talib.”
So the Prophet (p.b.h) started to seek a new land and a new environment. He
started to circle the Arabs’ clans and districts. He came to Ta’ef but its
leaders mocked at his mission and scorned him , they called him bad names , they
incited their foolish people and their children against the Prophet (p.b.h) to
harm him and to send him out of their village. So they aroused and started to
throw the stones upon the Prophet (p.b.h) , they blocked roads , and called him
bad names. The Prophet (p.b.h) left Ta’ef suffering from its people’s
treatment. He whispered to his Lord : “ If You were not angry with me , I never
mind ”
The Prophet returned to Mecca in spite of the serious situation there. And he
started again to explain his religion for the Arabs’ clans , contact with
pilgrimages. And in a place called Akaba , it was the meeting and the serious
historical turning point , when the situation changed in the interest of Islam
and its Prophet (p.b.h) . In that blessing place , the Prophet (p.b.h) has met
seven of al Khazrage men while they were coming from Yethrib to visit the Kaaba.
It was a religious duty that Arabs used to do before Islam. Those men were
neighbors to Jews who told themabouta new Prophet that is going to appear in the
Arabs land. So those men have joined between the Prophet’s call and the news
that they heard from Jews. One of them said : “ I swear by God , this is the
Prophet whom Jews have told you about”
When those men had come back home , they carried the prophet’s call with them.
Islam started to open its way into the souls. They started to invite their
people to the new religion. People in Yethrib started to talk about the new
religion and the Prophet.
Next pilgrimage season , twelve men of those who believed the prophet (p.b.h)
came from Yethrib to meet , negotiate and pay homage to him . The Prophet
(p.b.h) has sent his deputy Mus’ab bin Omair to Yethrib , who started to spread
Islam and call people to believe the Prophet . He made a great changing and a
wide Islamic movement.
A powerful base was established there , and thus Islam started to spread in
Yethrib.
Quraish knew about what had happened in Yethrib , so they realized the extent of
danger , then the masters of Quraish decided to hold meeting in Dar al Nedwa for
consultation , they made a very decisive serious decision , it was killing the
Prophet (p.b.h) . Tribes all together are going to participate in that criminal
work ,when they all involved in that crime , Bani Hashim (the tribe of the
Prophet (p.b.h)) will be unable to fight those tribes all together , then they
will accept the blood money. They all liked that idea an agreed to carry it out.
They chose the killer and told them to carry their own task in the darkness. But
the angle Gabriel (p.b.h) has been descended to tell the Prophet (p.b.h) about
that polytheist’s plot , he recited the saying of the Almighty : “ And when the
unbelievers were devising against thee , to confine thee , or sly thee , or to
expel thee, and were devising , and God was devising , and God is the best of
devisers. ”
Then the Prophet decided to let someone else sleep in his bed to deceive the
unbelievers and makes them believe that the Prophet (p.b.h) is still sleep in
his bed. The one who accepted that great self-sacrifice was Imam Ali (p.b.h) ,
when he exposed himself to the danger of death for the sake of Islam , and to
save the Prophet’s life. Thus Allah the Almighty said: “ But other men there are
that sell themselves desiring God’s good pleasure ; and God is gentle with his
servants.”
That was the greatest virtue of Amirul Mu’minin ( the leader of believers) , he
slept in the Prophet’s bed . Fourteen of Quraish’s men surrounded the house.
When the Prophet (p.b.h) went out through the door , nobody of those men felt
him . He was reading chapter of Yasin till his saying : “We have covered them ,
so they don’t see .”
The Prophet (p.b.h) migrated to Yethrib after he had asked Ali to pay his debts
. He also asked him to bring the Fatimas after him ; Fatima al Zahra bent
Muhammad (p.b.h) , Fatima bent Asad (Imam Ali’s mother ) , Fatima bent al
Zubayer , and everybody else of Bani Hashim who wants to migrate with him .
Thus , the Islamic mission in Mecca was on two periods :
1.
The secret call which lasted three years.
2.
The overt call which lasted ten years.

Chapter Three
Theme One
The Prophet (p.b.h) in al Madinah
After the enemies of Allah had failed to assassinate the Prophet (p.b.h) , he
migrated to Yethrib. On his way to Yethrib he hid in Hara’ cave for three days
so Quraish couldn’t track him. Then he harried toward Yethrib not to care for
any kind of trouble , getting help from Allah , confident of His supporting.
On 12 Rebee’ul Awal the Prophet (p.b.h) has arrived to a place that was called
(Qaba) . He stayed there for a while , he was received there with great
welcoming. He founded the first Masjed (mosque ) on the bases of God-fearing to
which the holy verse refers : “ A mosque that was founded upon god fearing from
the first day is worthier for thee to stand in ”
Then he sent a message to Ali (p.b.h) telling him to come as soon as possible.
Ali(p.b.h) came with Fatimas and Um Aymen. When the prophet (p.b.h) heard about
Ali’s coming , he said call him. He was answered : “ O Prophet of God , he
couldn’t walk ” Then the Prophet (p.b.h) visited him by himself , as soon as he
saw Ali’s feet were swelling and bleeding he hugged him and cried from the pity
. Then he said to Ali (p.b.h) : “O Ali you are the first one in this nation who
believed in Allah and His Prophet , and you are the first one who migrated to
Allah and His Prophet , and you will be the last one who sees the His messenger
, I swear by whom catches my soul that , nobody loves you but a believer that
Allah has been tested his heart for faith , and nobody hates you but a hypocrite
or unbeliever . ”
Fifteen days later , the Prophet (p.b.h) moved into al Medina where he did the
Juma’a prayer (Friday prayer ) with Bani Salim bin Aouf , it was the first
Juma’a Prayer in Islam . The Prophet (p.b.h) made his first speech in al Medina
, then came down the Wada’ hill – a place was close to al Medina – He put his
feet on the earth of Yethrib . Men , women , children welcomed him happily
reciting :
The full moon has shone
from behind the hills of Wada’
We must give our thanks
Whenever the herald calls
O you , who is sent to us
Your command is obeyed
You honored al Medina when you came
You are welcome , O the best herald.
Some people insisted that the Prophet should stay at their homes , but the
Prophet (p.b.h) said : “open the way for the she – camel, she is ordered ” .
The she-camel came to a wide land , it belongs to an orphan from Khazrage . She
kneeled down at the door of “Abi Ayoub al Ansari” . The mother of Ayoub moved
and took the baggage of the Prophet (p.b.h) into her house. People disputed ,
everyone wanted to take the baggage to his house. The Prophet (p.b.h) said
“Where is my baggage ?” They said : “Ayoub’s mother took it into her house . ”
The prophet (p.b.h) said : “ A man is with his baggage ” . The Prophet (p.b.h)
stayed at Abi Aoub’s house for one month until he built a mosque , and Ali
(p.b.h) was with the Prophet. The supporters competed to take other emigrants
to their homes.
In that new environment , the Prophet faced three main problems:
1.
The Jews inside and outside al Medina who own lot of
money.
2.
The dispute between the emigrants and the supporters (al
Ansar ) , and between al Ansar themselves (Aous and Khazrage ).
3.
Quraish and the idolaters in the Arab’s Peninsula.
But the Prophet could overcome those problems with perfect wise political
ways.
1.
The Problem of Yethrib Jews: The Prophet (p.b.h) decided
to negotiate with them and hold a non-aggression pact with the Jews of Yethrib
and other sectors of Jews : Bani Qoraydha , Bani al Nadheer , and Bani
Qaynoqa’a . The most important item in that treaty was nonaggression upon the
prophet (p.b.h) and his followers. But as usual the Jews has broken the
covenant.
2.
The Prophet (p.b.h) has solved the problem of the Aous
and Khazrage through the fraternity , when he gathered them together and said
: “each two should be brothers in love of Allah ” . That fraternity became
the way of solving other problems. The Prophet (p.b.h) himself took Ali (p.b.h)
as his brother and said : “ O Ali , you are my brother in the present life and
in the hereafter ” So Ali (p.b.h) cried and said : “ O you who saved us from
ignorant , I am going to guard you with my soul ”
3.
As for the problem of Quraish and the idolaters , the
only way for solving that problem was the military one. We are going to talk
about the Prophet’s battles later.
Theme Two
The Prophet’s Battles
The Prophet (p.b.h) did like to use the sword , but the conditions required that
. Quraish’s injustice , and their determination to hit the Prophet (p.b.h) and
his companions economically. They prevented the caravans from carrying the food
to al Medina . That situation has continued until the people of Medina were
about to starve. Then Abou Jahal sent the Prophet a strongly-worded message ,he
threatened the Prophet that he is going to invade al Medina . Just then the
following two verses descended: “Permission (to fight ) is given to those upon
who war is made because they are oppressed , and most surly Allah is well able
to assist them .Those who have been expelled form their homes without a just
cause except that they say : Our Lord is Allah . And had there not been Allah’s
repelling some people by others , certainly there would have been pulled down
cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah’s name is much
remembered ; and surly Allah will help him who helps his cause ; most surly
Allah is Strong , Mighty ”
Through out this theme , we are going to narrate the most important battles of
the Prophet (p.b.h) that he himself took part in.
1.
Badr :
To defend the Muslim’s rights and to shock Quraish and the idolaters , the
Prophet (p.b.h) went out to face Quraish in the second year after the hegira
with 313 men , 82 of them were from al - Mohagireen (migrants ) , and 170 men
were from al Khazrage , and 61 men from al Aous . That was on Monday the eighth
of Remadan. He knitted two flags , one of them was for Mosa’ab bin Omayr , and
the second one which is called “al Oqab ” was for Imam Ali (p.b.h) .
As for Quraish , they moved toward a place named “Badr” in the morning of
seventeenth Ramadan . The battle started with an individual fighting , when ,
Hamzah, (p.b.h) fought ,Shaybah , and ,Obaydah, fought , Otbeh , and ,Ali,
(p.b.h) fought , al Waleed . When , Hamza , and , Ali , killed their opponents
, they both killed Otbeh . Then both armies clashed with each other. Muslim army
won the battle because of their own faith and helping of God.
Allah the Almighty said “ And Allah did certainly assist you at Badr when you
were weak; be careful of Allah then, that you may give thanks. ”

al- Kudr :
It happened the same year of , Badr Battle ,. Qarqaratul Kudr lies between , al
Medina , and , al Ma’den. A clan of Bani Salm inhabited that area , and they
were preparing themselves to attack Yethrib. So the Prophet (p.b.h) himself went
to punish them. But they escaped before he reached them.
3.
Thee Amr :
It was a place on the road of al Medina , when the clan of Ghatafan has prepared
to attack al Medina , the Prophet (p.b.h) went to fight them but they escaped.
One of them wanted to kill the Prophet (p.b.h) while he was resting under a tree
in the valley of Thee Amr , but the Prophet (p.b.h) could control him with a
Devin miracle , them the man declared his faith in Islam.
